Over the next couple weeks, we will be skating in pre-determined groups.  During this time, we will be evaluating the players in each group and will make adjustments where we feel they are needed.  It is our intention to have the evaluation process completed and teams finalized by Sunday Sept 28.  Should any one have any questions, feel free to call Gord Leddy at 780-887-8016 or your category director.

“Players will start in the pre-determined groupings and will have the ability to skate together through practice and exhibition games to determine the overall calibre of the players within each group.  It will be the responsibility of the Evaluation Committee to see that players are skating within the proper group.  The Evaluation Committee will consist of the President, Vice-President and Category Directors as well as any other members of SMHSC that are asked by the Executive Committee to assist in this process. The teams will not be finalized until Septembers 28th.

All evaluators will be required to provide an unbiased decision.  It is recommended that evaluators do not evaluate a category that his/her child is playing in.  The group(s) the player skated with during evaluations does not indicate what team he/she will ultimately be placed on. Should a player be found to have been placed inappropriately after the evaluation process is completed, the Evaluation Committee may reconsider the player’s placement.  It is our intention to have teams finalized in a reasonable amount of time.  The final team selection deadline is set by the EMHA, typically the second week of November.

It is the responsibility of the Executive as a whole to ensure the evaluations are well organized, fair, accurate and enjoyable. SMHSC is constantly striving to improve. Should you have suggestions or concerns, please contact your Category Director and/or President."
