23 June 2009 Novice 1 ProgramTo Parents of Players born in 2001 and 2002: It was always Knights of Columbus Athletic Club’s “A” Program Mandate to have our very best KC players in each division (known as the Rep Program) playing against the very best players from other teams inside Edmonton Minor Hockey. The “Rep Program” inside Knights of Columbus Athletic Club represents just that, our best and most talented KC players competing against the very best in the city. For the past 8 years, the KC NOVICE tier 1 program has been operated by St Matthew Hockey. By doing so, this has allowed individuals the opportunity to play at the Novice 1 level. Today, The KC Board of Directors announce they are expanding their "A" Program and will add the NOVICE tier 1 program into the Knights of Columbus Athletics Clubs “Rep Program” effective immediately. We would like to thank St Matthew Hockey for their dedication and commitment to the Novice tier 1 division throughout the past 8 years.
I would encourage all Novice Players born in year 2001 or 2002 from South Side Knights, Annunciation, Good Shepherd, St Matthews and St Charles to sign-up for conditioning camp and tryouts. Our very best KC Novice players playing together on the same ice seems unbeatable. If you have registered to play Novice with your parish, you are considered a candidate for the rep program.
See you all in AUGUST!

23 June 2009 Attention Goalies: Please review the new Goaltender Equipment Rule Change as posted by Alberta Hockey
In the past, St. Matthew Hockey and Sports Club have made charitable donations to both local and international charities. During our last executive meeting we have decided that we will continue to make charitable donations to local charities on an annual basis. We want our young players to be part of this initiative and as a result it will be called ‘St. Matthew Kids Score & Share’. This season, St. Matthew Hockey and Sports Club will donate $0.50 for every goal scored by our Novice, Atom and Peewee teams during their EMHA regular season, Minor Hockey Week and Playoff games. Unless a specific cause is chosen, our default donation will be directly related towards children’s charities in the Edmonton area. All funds will come directly from our Bingo, Casino and 50/50 revenue. St. Matthew Hockey and Sports Club has been providing minor hockey for children in North East Edmonton for the last 39 years. We look forward to the many years to come and hope we can make a difference. Gord Leddy, President SMHSC
